Safe n Redi - Empowering communities to be SAFE n REDI for disasters

Cyclones or other natural disasters are becoming more frequent. In the Pacific, most private homes are not built to withstand strong cyclones therefore community members often have to find shelter elsewhere.

The Safe n Redi app collects information on church-owned buildings which have been earmarked to be used as evacuation centres. It also captures detailed information about the buildings and supporting infrastructure, how many people it can safely fit and which state it is in. As well as information on facilities such as sanitation, cooking, washing, water supply, power, disability access, etc.

The information gathered is based on the Fiji and Vanuatu National Selection and Assessment Criteria of Evacuation Centres and the Pacific Disability Forums Guidelines on physical accessibility.

Users of this app are mainly individuals running, maintaining, or associated with faith-based or government-based facilities in the pacific which could be used as potential evacuation centres in case of a potential disaster.

Registration works by invite only.
New users are invited either by email or direct over the phone or in person to the web platform (main platform which includes analytics) for the registration.

Only approved registered users can use the features of the app.

There are no paid aspects inside the app.
